Black Women-Owned Eyewear Brand Teams Up With Kadeem Hardison to Bring Back Iconic Dwayne Wayne Flip-Up Glasses

#NOLAZINE - A Black women-owned eyewear company is bringing a legendary piece of television history back to life. Brooklyn-based luxury eyewear brand Vontélle has partnered with actor Kadeem Hardison to recreate the iconic flip-up glasses worn by his character Dwayne Wayne on the classic sitcom A Different World.
Founded in 2019 by Tracy Green and Nancey Harris, Vontélle specializes in stylish eyewear designed to complement diverse facial features. The company’s new DEEMED collection features gold and silver aviator-style frames with removable magnetic flip-up lenses available in multiple colors.
The collaboration comes as excitement builds around Netflix’s A Different World sequel, where the redesigned glasses are featured. The collection combines nostalgia with modern fashion while celebrating Black entrepreneurship and cultural influence.
Beyond fashion, the partnership is also making a difference. A percentage of every purchase will support the Kadeem Hardison Scholarship Fund, helping young adults pursue higher education.
Hardison expressed excitement about collaborating with a Black women-owned business, making the partnership even more meaningful.
From television history to Black-owned business success, Vontélle is proving that iconic style never goes out of fashion.
