#NOLAZINE – Entrepreneur Kofi Asante is breaking barriers in the energy industry as the founder of Bluecore Energy, a nuclear energy startup launched in 2026 that has reportedly secured $10 million in investor funding.

The former Uber Freight executive is bringing his background in technology, transportation, and logistics into the nuclear energy industry with an ambitious vision to transform how electricity is delivered.

Bluecore Energy is developing floating nuclear power plants using small modular reactors installed on barges. The technology is designed to provide reliable, carbon-free electricity to ports, data centers, industrial facilities, and coastal communities without requiring the same extensive land-based infrastructure as traditional nuclear power plants.

The company’s reported $10 million pre-seed funding round was led by Slauson & Co., with support from Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat Ventures, Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen, and Harlem Capital.

Bluecore Energy has also reportedly established its headquarters at the Port of Long Beach in California, marking another significant milestone for the growing company.

Asante’s journey highlights the growing opportunities for Black entrepreneurs to enter industries historically dominated by major corporations. His mission could help reshape the future of clean energy while inspiring the next generation of Black innovators and business leaders.
