#NOLAZINE - Legendary music producer Teddy Riley, one of the pioneers of New Jack Swing, reportedly made an unexpected business decision when he helped create Foxy Brown’s 1996 hit single “Get Me Home,” featuring Blackstreet.

Despite his reputation as one of the industry's most successful producers, Riley has shared that he charged just $1 for his contribution to the record.

According to Riley, the symbolic fee wasn't about money. It was his way of repairing a strained relationship with Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons, following disagreements between the two music industry heavyweights.

Produced by The Trackmasters with contributions from Riley, “Get Me Home” became one of Foxy Brown's signature records and helped establish her as one of the leading female rappers of the 1990s.

The song appeared on her debut album, Ill Na Na, which went on to become a major commercial success.

Riley's reported decision showed that sometimes maintaining business relationships can be more valuable than collecting a large paycheck. His contribution helped create a timeless hip-hop classic while demonstrating the importance of putting differences aside.

Do y'all think Teddy Riley made a smart business decision by charging only $1? And is “Get Me Home” one of Foxy Brown's greatest records?
