#NOLAZINE - New Orleans entrepreneur Melika Honoré has transformed financial knowledge, determination, and a strong business vision into a multimillion-dollar brand. During her appearance on Episode #196 of Nolazine’s What’s Yo Story Podcast, Honoré opened up about her rise to becoming a millionaire, her success as a respected credit expert, and her journey into the restaurant industry.

Honoré’s story is not simply about making money—it is about learning how money, personal credit, and business credit truly work. She discussed how gaining financial knowledge changed the direction of her life and gave her the ability to create opportunities that once seemed out of reach.

Before becoming known as a credit guru, Honoré experienced what it was like to live from paycheck to paycheck. Instead of accepting that struggle as her permanent reality, she began researching wealth and studying how successful people used credit, funding, and business ownership to build financial freedom.

That decision became a turning point.

Turning Credit Knowledge Into a Successful Business

As Honoré improved her understanding of credit, she realized that countless people in her community were facing similar challenges. Many wanted to purchase homes, obtain funding, or start businesses but did not understand how their credit profiles affected those goals.

She turned what she learned into a business designed to help others.

Through Honoré Credit Consultants, she began educating clients about personal credit, disputing inaccurate information, building stronger credit profiles, and preparing entrepreneurs to obtain business funding. The company also helps business owners understand how business credit differs from personal credit and why separating the two can be important.

Honoré Credit Consultants officially began operating in 2016 and has grown into an established New Orleans financial-services company offering credit education, consulting, business-credit assistance, and financing guidance. Honoré Credit Consultants describes its mission as helping clients create a roadmap toward financial freedom.

During the interview, Honoré emphasized that credit is more than a score. When understood and managed responsibly, it can become a tool that helps people gain access to better interest rates, property, capital, and business opportunities.

Her success in the credit industry eventually helped her reach millionaire status. More importantly, it placed her in a position to teach others how to improve their financial situations and begin building legacies of their own.

Becoming a Serial Entrepreneur

Credit consulting was only one part of Honoré’s entrepreneurial journey. Over the years, she expanded into multiple industries and established herself as a business consultant, financial educator, author, mentor, and serial entrepreneur.

Long before opening her current restaurant, Honoré and her sister recognized the need for dependable around-the-clock childcare and launched The Love Center Child Care in 2006. She has also used her experience to mentor other women through business-development programs and financial education.

Her willingness to explore different industries shows that entrepreneurship is not always about staying on one path. It is about recognizing needs, solving problems, building the proper systems, and having enough faith in your vision to take action.

Honoré also spoke honestly about one of the most difficult parts of operating a business: finding dependable employees. As a company grows, an owner must learn how to hire the right people, delegate responsibilities, and create a team capable of maintaining the brand’s standards.

Bringing The Verdict to New Orleans East

Honoré’s entrepreneurial journey eventually led her into the restaurant business with The Verdict Restaurant & Lounge, located at 9301 Lake Forest Boulevard, Suite 100, New Orleans, Louisiana 70127.

The upscale restaurant and lounge opened in 2022 with a mission to bring an elevated dining and entertainment experience to New Orleans East. Honoré could have selected another part of the city, but she intentionally chose the East because it is her community and an area she believes deserves continued investment and development.

The restaurant’s name reflects Honoré’s personal journey. Throughout life, people make good and bad decisions, but those decisions do not have to become their permanent identity. The Verdict represents taking control of your future and refusing to allow the opinions of others—or mistakes from the past—to determine the final outcome of your life.

The judicial concept can be seen throughout the restaurant’s branding and design, while its menu celebrates New Orleans cuisine with a modern presentation. The restaurant offers Creole, Cajun, Southern, and seafood selections in an upscale lounge atmosphere. The Verdict’s restaurant listing confirms its Lake Forest Boulevard location and focus on New Orleans-inspired dining.

The Verdict is also a family-operated business. Honoré developed the concept and oversees its marketing, while her mother, Michiko Honoré, brings decades of food-service experience to her role as head chef. Her sister, Tashika Honoré-Holden, has helped manage restaurant operations.

Building Something Bigger Than Money

What makes Honoré’s story inspirational is that her accomplishments extend beyond becoming a millionaire. She has used her knowledge to create companies, employ people, mentor aspiring entrepreneurs, and introduce more members of her community to financial literacy.

Her journey demonstrates the importance of learning the rules behind money instead of simply working harder without a financial strategy. Personal credit, business credit, relationships, funding, branding, and disciplined decision-making have all played roles in her success.

Honoré’s rise also proves that a person does not have to begin with perfect circumstances to build an extraordinary life. She went from surviving paycheck to paycheck to leading multiple businesses and helping others pursue financial freedom.

Here at Nolazine, we believe Melika Honoré deserves her flowers for continuing to invest in New Orleans and for showing people what can happen when financial education meets vision, consistency, and fearless execution.

Her story is still being written, but the verdict is already clear: Melika Honoré has become one of New Orleans’ most inspiring women in business.
